Description
1985 SAAB 90? FULL RESTORATION PROJECT.
NOTE: Cult Classics offer vehicles for sale in all conditions, this vehicle is listed under our Restoration Project section on our website, where you will find more photographs. Please note, we are not selling individual parts, just the vehicle as a whole.
Even by Saabs standards, the Saab 90 was a bit of an oddball. The front end of a 99 and the rear of a 900, that said, it is now an incredibly rare car with only 11 believed to be left on the road in the UK .
This particular 90 is showing 164625 miles recorded and was MOT?d up until June 2007, we assume that it has been off the road since then and consequently it now requires full restoration.
Drivetrain
The car appears to be mechanically complete and the engine does turn over. It will of course need everything checking over and refreshing as it hasn?t been run for 15 years prior to us getting the car.
Body and Chassis
The shell is quite rusty throughout, most of the panels have perforated, as has the boot floor where it meets the rear wheel wells. The floor pan appears to be structurally sound though as is the metal work under the bonnet but we believe there are a quite a few hours to be spent with the welder to get this 90 back to its former glory!
The Interior
Inside the Saab is remarkably good considering the amount of time it has been off the road. The carpets are all complete and the velour upholstery is in pretty good condition, just some stitching issues to the side of the drivers seat. The door cards are a bit scruffy and the headlining has dropped but the dashboard, steering wheel, switches and instruments all look good.
Documentation, Keys and Spares
We have the V5 for the car and both keys.
Summary
It has been said that Saab doesn?t build cars, it builds Saabs!!! there?s probably no better way to sum up the extraordinary Swedish firm and its pre-GM products and this is a rare opportunity to restore one of its scarcest if slightly odd models. It does require complete restoration but what a rewarding project it would be!
