Description

ARRIVING SOON.......

A 911 with a fascinating history and a bright future.

Inspired by the legendary ST competition 911s of the past, this impressive road-legal hotrod was created by the Williams Crawford Special Requests Department.

It's pure theatre; the way it looks, the way it drives. The energy, the buzz. The thrill of the butterflies in your stomach. Can you imagine living with this Porsche?

Finished in creamy-rich light ivory, this is a classy looking 911; the flared arches, wide Fuchs alloys and centre fill fuel cap hint at what lies beneath.

Whilst the interior is beautifully trimmed in brown leather and 'Pepita' houndstooth cloth, there are no frills; no radio, no air conditioning and no driver aids. The person behind the Momo steering wheel is fully responsible.

So, what's the story?

If you subscribe to Octane magazine, you will have read the detailed story of this car in full earlier this year.

At its heart, this is a race car. That is what it spent most of its life doing, and that is what it has been good at.

Beginning life as a US supplied 1973 911 S, it was transformed in the early 90's into a successful ST spec race car, competing in America in historic racing events for several years. It changed dramatically, fitted with glass fibre bodywork, lightweight doors, a fuel cell, plexiglass and a roll cage.

But it was the engine that saw the most investment. The original 2. 4 litre was cleverly uprated to produce a free-revving 'short-stroke' with 2, 454cc. Utilising 'E' crankcases, a counterweighted forged crank, 89mm cylinders and forged pistons, 906 spec cams, along with a Bosch mechanical fuel injection system.

Williams Crawford took the raw racer and gave it some manners. Reinstated a few 'luxuries' and made it road legal. It is beautiful, but it hasn't lost any of its spirit, and deserves the utmost respect.

The 911 ST - in a nutshell.

There is no definitive blueprint for a 911 ST.

Put very simply, the ST name is a blanket definition for a very small number of specialist 911 built between 1970 and 1972.

The original cars were built to satisfy whichever discipline they were intended for; racing, endurance, road rallies. A handful were put together by the Porsche factory. Others by race teams who purchased the 'ST kit' from Porsche, and carried out the conversions themselves.

Flared wheel arches housed larger wheels. Power came from varying upgrades to stock 2. 2 litre units, and coupled with lightweight bodywork and plexiglass, performance was vastly increased.

Mileage to be confirmed. More photos and video to follow........
