Description

The Jaguar V12 engine is one of the greatest iconic powerplants ever made, powering the E Type, XJ12 and XJ-S models plus numerous successful race cars from Touring Cars to LeMans GTs.

If you missed out on used Ferraris when they were selling for the price of new Toyotas. You blew it when you could have bought that nice older Porsche 911 for less than a new Geo Metro. Now, even decent Alfa Romeos have risen beyond your modest classic car budget. Yet there is still a car that offers nearly everything a car fanatic could want. It has twelve cylinders, a swoopy aerodynamic profile and a racing heritage that includes a half-dozen Le Mans victories. That's right - its the XJS.

Jaguar has always built beautiful cars. From the elegant and aggressive pre-war SS100, to the stellar XK120 and C- and D-Type racing cars of the '50s, to the sexually suggestive E-Type in the '60s, the company's products defined the term "desirable. The E-Type, once a svelte and eager six-cylinder sports car, had grown into a V12-powered tourer, and a replacement was needed. This was outlined in a 1968 memo from Jaguar's legendary aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer to founder Sir William Lyons. A new project was undertaken by Sayer and Lyons, and the resulting XJS was launched in 1975 as a replacement for the E-Type.

From the start, the Jaguar XJS was criticized by purists for not being as pretty as the E-Type. It was too modern, it had too much flat-black trim and its rear flying-buttress styling was singled out for the most severe criticism. Yet if you could afford one you were rewarded by silky smooth and effortless performance that made 12-cylinder engines legendary.

ABOUT THIS CAR

This is a truly beautiful 6. 0ltr V12 model in very nice condition.

The colour is gorgeous and mileage is low for one of these.

All of its electrical and mechanical parts are working. This is a later example and later cars got better and better. For those who are not that familiar with Jaguar's heritage, in 1994, the 4. 0-liter six-cylinder engine was standard and a 6. 0-liter version of the V12 became an option through the end of the car's life, when the XJS was replaced by the XK8 in 1996.

The body is clean and what looks to be the original paintwork is very tidy.

Interior is stunning as to be expected from a Jaguar.

Car runs and drives beautiful - Quick, quiet, safe and smart - an excellent grand tourer with a soul.

Beautifully designed and engineered, the 6. 0ltr brings more power, more torque, more comfort, more driving ease and more security. It defies automotive modernity, whilst at the same time conveying the individualism, the molten emotion, always and instantly triggered by the name Jaguar.

Comes complete with factory tool kit, jack, handbooks and two sets of keys.

Imported from Japan with 79674 kilometers - first registered in NZ in 2010.

Albeit no service records as such accompany car, we can confirm that it is in very good condition. It is evident to us that this car has been exceptionally maintained and serviced. We invite any interested party to get it appraised by an independent Jaguar specialist prior to purchasing and we will undertake to sort out any issues arising from such appraisal as part of the sale. That's how much we are confident with it.

In 1982, under the banner of TWR, British racing driver Tom Walkinshaw entered a team of V12 XJS?s into the European Touring Car Championship and claims several wins in the process. Walkinshaw goes on to take the 1984 ETCC Drivers? Championship and in the same year wins the prestigious Spa 24 Hours.

This XJS is an exceptional vehicle. Add to that, Jaguar's long and illustrious history in motorsport has forever informed the evolution of the marque's road cars. When you buy a Jaguar, you don't buy just a car, you buy into the story; the heritage that makes this marque so popular and so unique. You buy into the art of performance.

TRANSPORT / WORLDWIDE SHIPPING CAN BE ORGANISED ON THIS VEHICLE ON BUYER'S BEHALF AT BUYERS COST.
