Newton Aycliffe, County Durham is the home to Evolution E-Types. Based out of a 40, 000 sq. ft. production facility which comprises of eight individual workshop bays with dedicated engine, paint and gearbox departments working alongside an in-house trim and upholstery team. This is where the dream of building the perfect Jaguar E-Type becomes reality.

Celebrating a peak analogue driving experience, each Evolution E-Type is designed and engineered for performance, while holding true to the spirit of the original: effortlessly elegant, classically cool. Every Evolution E-type is built by hand from the ground up; forged over thousands of hours of master craftsmanship, designed and engineered for performance, while holding true to the spirit of the original icon.

The Low Drag models are without doubt the ultimate incarnation of Evolution's work with the iconic Jaguar E-Type. The design inspiration behind the Low Drag concept being Chassis No. EC1001, the unique Low Drag Coupe designed by Malcolm Sayer and produced by Jaguar to be lighter and more aerodynamically efficient than both the 'standard E-Type' and its contemporary racing rivals. With bodywork that was aerodynamically sculpted to reduce friction as it cut through the air, allowing for higher top speeds and greater acceleration, the Low Drag moniker was born. Attention to detail is the benchmark of the Evolution E-Type Low Drag's coach-built exterior which is lovingly formed in lightweight aluminium using traditional manufacturing techniques. In total, Evolution Low Drag's require over 8, 000 hours of labour in order to produce a perfect specimen.

As with all Evolution specification engines, the original block and head have been retained and as a part of the comprehensive rebuild process (carried out via Evolution's own in-house specialist engine building team), this powerplant was stroked from its original 4. 2 litre displacement up to a magnificent 4. 7 litres. This process has helped to ensure that the high revving nature associated with the original engine has been preserved and further enhanced. Being the ultimate incarnation of Evolution?s vision for the Jaguar E-Type, this example sports Evolution?s own fuel injection system, complete with custom inlet manifold resulting in a muscular power output of 350 bhp. To support the freshly installed beating heart is an electronic fuel pump conversion, lightweight high torque starter motor, high performance aluminium radiator, performance air filter in addition to a plethora of other Evolution spec upgraded components to ensure that the newly found performance can be extracted reliably. Mated to the engine is an Evolution custom-built 5 speed gearbox allow the driver to deploy the prestigious levels of performance in a wonderfully analogue fashion.

Moving to the interior, a dynamic theme is present featuring a two tone Regency Red / Black combination of leather and alcantara. As with all Evolution E-Types, the footwell features a fantastically tactile Stainless-Steel pedal box, which offers high levels of analogue engagement for the driver. To complete the interior, all cabin hardware is fashioned from full stainless-steel throughout.

To ensure pleasant road manners and a high level of refinement, a completely new set of suspension components have been engineered in house by Evolution which includes a fully independent rear suspension. To reign in the performance, a set of 6 (front) and 4 (rear) pot calipers have been mounted to vented disc brakes with an adjustable brake bias valve for finite tuning of brake feel.

Retaining a high level of usability was a key aspect in the development of the Evolution E-Type so to enhance its touring capabilities, this example has been fitted with heated front and rear windscreens, heated headlight screens, central locking, electric windows, and air conditioning. The final modern-day touch is the fitment of an Evolution Variable Power Steering System.
