  • United Kingdom

Description

- 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia for sale
- Two owners from new
- Full service history with HR Owen
- More than £40, 000 of optional extras

Delivered new on 9 June 2011, this Ferrari 458 Italia is offered for sale at The Classic Motor Hub with an impeccable service history and only one owner. Supplied by HR Owen and finished in Nero Daytona with Nero trim, it was also specified with numerous optional extras.

Those included 20in Sport forged diamond-cut wheels, the front suspension lift system, and the Advanced Frontlighting System that directs the beam according to the direction of the corner ahead. There are also yellow brake calipers for the carbon ceramic discs.

Inside, the list of options that have been ticked is immense. There’s the Carbon Driver Zone, which means that the steering wheel, gearshift paddles, instrument binnacle and centre console are all finished in carbon fibre. Elsewhere, the carpets, headlining and armrests are all alcantara, and there’s an integrated radio navigation system, parking sensors, and Daytona-style seat trim.

The seats are also electronically operated, and there’s a high-power hi-fi system with iPod installation. Once the VAT had been added, the cost of the various options topped £40, 000.

The servicing has only ever been handled by HR Owen and was carried out at the following intervals: 5, 521 miles (30 May 2012); 8, 808 miles (8 May 2013); 12, 704 miles (11 June 2014); 14, 159 miles (5 June 2015); 17, 477 miles (6 May 2016); 18, 873 miles (20 April 2017); and 20, 855 miles (30 April 2018).

This Ferrari 458 Italia has been in storage for the past three years but has recently received a major 2 year service with Dick Lovett Ferrari Swindon only 1, 500 miles ago. It’s a rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully specified and lovingly maintained two-owner example of this spectacular Italian supercar.

MODEL HISTORY

Ferrari’s line of mid-engined V8 road cars can be traced back to the Dino 308 GT4 of 1973, and was pivotal to the marque’s success as it progressed through the Ferrari 308, 328, 348, F355, 360 and F430.

The 458 Italia was the latest development of the breed when it was introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was powered by a 4, 497cc V8 that delivered its maximum 562bhp at a heady 9, 000rpm, and which drove through a seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch automatic gearbox. That was enough to fire the 458 Italia from 0-60mph in 3. 4 seconds and on to a top speed of 210mph.

The modular chassis was all-new – torsional rigidity was up by 15 per cent over the F430 – carbon ceramic brake discs were standard, and the suspension featured two-stage adjustable dampers. The E-Diff worked with the F1-Trac system in order to maximise traction out of corners, and the cockpit was decluttered thanks to the relocation of many controls – including indicators, wipers and headlamps – to the steering wheel.

As the latest in an illustrious line of V8 Ferrari supercars, the 458 Italia was showered with praise by road-testers. Autocar magazine said that it ‘set a new standard by which supercars are now judged’, while Evo has said that it ‘represented a quantum leap in technological terms’. It was faster than the 599 GTB around Ferrari’s legendary Fiorano test track, and only a whisker slower than the Enzo hypercar.

Just over 21, 000 458s of all types – Italia, Spider and Challenge – left the Maranello factory before the model was replaced in 2015 by the turbocharged 488.
