We have another beautiful Volvo PV444 in our offer, and this time not just any ‘normal’ PV444. This is a very early copy from 1949.
The PV444 paved the way for Volvo’s development into a successful passenger car manufacturer. Due to its great popularity, the PV444 is seen as the “people’s car” in Sweden. It was presented in 1944 in Stockholm, but production did not start until after the end of the Second World War.
The PV444 is a true icon of Scandinavian craftsmanship and car design, and Volvo still uses this model to this day for the designs of new Volvos.
We can say that the previous owner was very fond of his car. The car has been completely body-off restored, which took 15 (!) years and lasted from 2005 to 2020.
The restoration was carried out by a well-known “Marque” specialist who only deals with Volvos and this is reflected in the car because no expense has been spared on the restoration of this Volvo. which is evident from the significant amount of more than €50, 000 that has been invested.
However, the time and money invested have resulted in more than just a restored car; it has returned a timeless classic to its youthful glory and preserved a legacy for future generations.
The body was completely reduced to bare metal and then rebuilt. As you would expect from a restoration that lasts 15 years, all chrome parts have also been completely re-chromed, from the characteristic grille to the elegant handles and mouldings. The above-mentioned work is beautifully documented by a photo album with many photos from the beginning to the end of the restoration.
The interior has also been completely reupholstered in a beautiful pastel green colour, which looks great on the car, especially with the black paint, this makes for a nice combination.
Then the engine, which is the well-known 1414CC engine with 40 HP, the engine has also been completely overhauled and ensures that this Volvo is a reliable travel companion for the coming decades.
