This Mercedes 190SL was built in 1957. Purchased by an American in Germany and subsequently taken to the USA. This car has a nice history, largely from contact with the previous American owner, whose father bought the car about 40 years ago. The story goes back to 1973 when it was purchased by MG dealer IRV, which sold it a year later to Mr. Mike Harwood. In 1981 the 190SL was finally purchased by Mr. Stan Hodes, whose son eventually sold it to the current owner in 2019.
The car was originally black, but Mrs. Hodes thought white matched the color of the steering wheel better, so it was painted white in the past. After purchase by the current owner, it was decided to restore the car to its original color combination. The car was completely resprayed and reupholstered in the period 2019 to 2022. The paintwork is of high quality, as is the interior for which the materials were purchased from HVL.
This was followed by a lot of mechanical work, engine overhaul, chrome work, etc. Invoices are available for all this work, as well as a photo report. The carburetors were completely overhauled in 2023.
The result is a very beautiful Mercedes in the original color scheme, which is ready for the new owner to enjoy many more enjoyable miles.
