Description
The Ford Popular 103E more affectionately known as the ‘Ford Pop’ was produced in the UK between 1953 and 1962 and became a very successful budget new car alternative to any used cars on the market at the time!
In later years these Fords became popular again as ‘Hot Rods’ beginning in the late 50’s when they started to be used for drag racing due to their lightweight design. While the practice started in the USA it soon came to Great Britain and the Ford ‘Pop’ became the definitive British Hot Rod because of its design, reduced size and availability, a role it still plays today!
According to the original ‘Buff Log Book’ this Pop was first registered in February 1959 in Luton Bedfordshire, an area it remained in until being acquired by the current owner’s family in the mid 1970’s. Being Ford dealers and enthusiasts the car was added to a small collection of other Ford cars and maintained by the family with only occasional use and dry stored. Apart from a complete re-spray some 20 years ago the car remains in very good original condition, starts, runs and drives nicely, and comes with a few spares.
