Not for Honda the simple route to building a hot hatch. Where other manufacturers beefed up the suspension and added more power, the Japanese firm went several steps further.
A strengthened chassis, reduced weight - even the glass was thinner - and new 2litre K20 215bhp engine delivered the Type 2, a high revving, viscerally exciting family car that wowed critics and buyers alike.
This is a very early 4th generation Type R from the first few months of production. Classically finished in Championship White with red Recaros - a factory-correct combination - this Japanese market car was imported here in late 2016. Low mileage and pleasingly factory standard it is a great and very usable example of arguably one of the most exciting sports cars of the last 25 years.
The History and Paperwork:- First registered in Japan on 13th July 2001 , Fourth generation Type R production began on 13th April 2001 so this is a very early car.
