We present this breathtaking 1994 Porsche 993 3. 8L SUPERCUP race car, which participated in the PORSCHE Supercup & Carrera Cup.
For the first time in 1993 the Porsche Supercup took place with the 911 series (964) and is part of the supporting program of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The Supercup version of the 911 (993) was driven from season 1994 to 1997. A total of only 216 vehicles of this version were built. The 993 Supercup was both faster and easier to control than its predecessor.
The presented car dates from the first season of the 993 Supercup in 1994. Only 35 SUPERCUP racing cars were built that year. It´s FIA WAGENPASS confirms participation in 34 races. Including famous race tracks like MONACO, IMOLA, SILVERSTONE, HOCKENHEIM etc …
Imagine the 1994 SUPERCUP on one of the world’s most famous racetracks like MONACO, followed by F1 champions e. g. Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Michael Schumacher … in their F1 racing car. Since the first days of the SUPERCUP, PORSCHE AG has been sending its own vehicles with drivers from public life such as F1 driver Mika Häkkinen, F1 team boss Eddie Jordan, Chris Rea, Haddaway or racing legend Walter Röhrl … onto the racetrack.
In contrast to the street version, the 911 (993) 3. 8L SUPERCUP received a larger engine, which was equipped with a 3. 8-liter six-cylinder, 310 PS & 360 Nm torque. The Supercup racing car was also much lighter and weighed only a little under 1100kg. The Supercup version was equipped with an aluminum hood, doors, thinner glass for side windows, a Lexan rear window (except for the early version = glass rear window) and magnesium wheels with central locking.
The car on offer is probably the best-preserved SUPERCUP race car of all. Because of this fact, it is one of the rare cars where the chassis and engine numbers match. This is unbelievable, because most of the SUPERCUP racing cars received replacement engines and had various accidents in breathtaking competitions during races.
The speedometer currently shows 40, 900 km. This can be traced back using the FIA WAGENPASS. The engine and transmission have recently been overhauled. As well as being professionally retracted by a Porsche engineer for 800 km.
The basic color of our car is red and has a speed yellow, silver racing trim with a distinctive Porsche Supercup flag on the side. The interior is in an untouched state.
1994 was the only year the 993 Supercup was delivered without the aero package. In 1995 these were given the larger fixed rear spoiler at the factory.
The 993 Supercup is a very limited series racing car that has a special place in the history of Porsche. With the introduction of the 996 Supercup in 1998, air-cooled engines for Porsche street and racing cars were discontinued.
This racing car is fully serviced and technically overhauled (engine, gearbox & chassis). And ready for immediate use for an incredible racing experience
