HEADING
VERY GOOD CAR / LOW MILES 3 FORMER REGISTERED OWNERS ..

This Stag was first registered on the 9th of June 1978 and shows 35, 262 miles on the odometer. It was last serviced and MoT’d in November last year.
The Stag was restored and resprayed eight years ago, during which the hardtop was refurbished and a new front driver’s side front wing was fitted. At the same time the seats were re-foamed and the car got new carpets and a new mohair hood. It was also subject to a complete mechanical check and overhaul.
Recent Work Undertaken in November last year includes a new timing chain together with a cooling fan viscous coupling, auxiliary drive belts, repair of the offside window winder motor plus a replacement quarter light control knob. There was also a full service and MoT, with all of the above undertaken by a Stag specialist of note in Faversham, Kent. The bill for this work was £1650.
During the current owner’s stewardship the following have also been fitted: front windscreen, five new tyres, a new stainless steel exhaust, all new front headlights, a new battery, indicator stalk and plastic steering column cover together, with many other smaller items. The rear bumper has been re-chromed.

Unsurprisingly, bearing in mind its extremely low mileage and the bodywork refurbishment undertaken eight years ago, this stylish Triumph GT looks beautiful. Stags could be ordered in colours that some might say only a child of the Seventies could love (I love them) but this one is in a universally popular bright blue, with a lovely paint finish, spotless chrome and gorgeous original alloy wheels.
There are however some very light scratches underneath the passenger side exterior door handle, and a small mark on the scuttle where the bonnet has possibly clashed with it in the past.
The only other small detractions we spotted are that the engine bay is not quite up to the excellent cosmetic standard of the exterior (and interior). Some of the under-bonnet parts need a little TLC to bring them up to scratch, and the sound-proofing on the underside of the bonnet is looking slightly shabby.
There is some paint on the soft top near both rear corners underneath the plastic rear window. The window itself looks a bit odd in the pics because the weather was very cold when we took the pictures. A nice hot summer’s day would soon see those fold marks disappear.
This is a very original car – remember, although these seats have been refoamed, these are the seat covers fitted by Triumph in 1978. Bearing that in mind, they look amazing. The only sign of wear we spotted is some slight wear on the beading of the driver’s seat bolster.
The original wooden dash has some cracked lacquer around the seatbelt warning light, and the wooden front of the glovebox is also lightly marked. Whether you’d want to refinish these wooden parts or leave them in this original condition will be up to the new owner.
In a similar vein, the paint on rev counter bezel has worn away in places, but the original sticker explaining how the soft top works is still attached to the driver’s side sun visor.
The markings are worn off electric window switches and there’s an aftermarket Smiths oil pressure gauge fitted.
There’s plenty of wax based rustproofing under here and nothing untoward to report. It looks as though the lower front suspension arms have been treated to polyurethane suspension bushes.
We couldn’t see any signs of corrosion on the chassis rails, floorpans, sills or any of the underbody structure.

This Stag has only had three registered keepers during its 44 years, all three of whom kept the car for many years. The second owner bought the car in June 1989, and passed ownership to the current owner in July 2015.
There is paperwork going back to 1978, and up to the present day, a number of previous MoT certificates and an insurance valuation from the Stag Owners Club Valuation Service, dated 19/ 11/ 2015 giving a value then of £15, 000.
The car also comes with the original handbook and a stack bills and receipts, highlights of which include:
