We are delighted to present for sale this super, low mileage Land Rover® 90 – which served in the forces from 1986-2012 under the reg 65 KF 21. This is one of the highest specification early 90s we’ve ever seen – and has benefitted from a raft of “Wolf” upgrades, including winterised hard top roof, roll cage, wolf rims with Michelin tyres, etc etc. With super low mileage of just 137, 635 miles – over the 38 years of its life that is just 3620 miles a year, and upcoming MOT & Tax Exemption – this is a really attractive package – especially with 12 months MOT so it is ready to drive away.
Externally, this has all the hallmarks of a period ex-military 90 – NATO green exterior bodywork, front bumper with military shunting pin, bonnet mounted spare, front external bonnet hinges, larger door mirrors, a matching set of 5 Michelin 4×4 O/ R tyres including the bonnet mounted spare, rear bumperettes, rear lifting eyes, NATO hitch and electric point, screw lenses – the list goes on, and on, and on. This 90 also benefits from the winterised “Wolf” roof – much preferred to earlier variants as they are lighter, warmer & one piece, so they do not leak like earlier variants. Wolf rims complete the look – and we think any customer in the market for one of these would be very satisfied with the appearance… we think it is a real stunner.
On the inside, there are two front deluxe high back seats with recline and headrests, along with an interior anti-roll bar to which the 3 point belts are mounted – a great safety feature which was only fitted to those upgraded to “Wolf” roofs. A central cubby box is fitted, with cupholders for the drive through, and a place to store items out of sight. What is great to see is that a stereo and speakers has been fitted with a modern, bluetooth, iPhone compatible head unit – so you can play your music, take or receive calls & get your sat nav directions. The rear is fitted with twin bench seats to allow for seating for six people including the driver – and matting is fitted throughout to protect the floors – hallmarks to the vehicles’ military past can be seen through items such as the interior map light for the passenger, which is great to see – and this still works which is handy at night!
Out on the road is where this old girl really shines through though – in just two years time, this Land Rover® 90 will be MOT & Tax Exempt – and when you consider the modern-esque driving experience when compared to an earlier Series, it really is a revelation. Coil springs, five speed all synchro gearbox, front disc brakes whilst charging your phone and listening to Spotify – and all of these modern features without the computerisation to go with it – meaning old fashioned mechanical engineering – no chasing electrical gremlins…. those with later, older Defenders will know what we mean here! We’ve noticed over the past 6 months customers have begun to realise these benefits – and good early 90s such as this are becoming sought after.
In summary then, if you are looking for a Land Rover® which can carry the whole family, with a far more modern driving experience than a Series, which will soon benefit from MOT & Tax Exemption, this is a great option.
