A genuine 1971 VW bodyshell painted in Porsche’s iconic shade, Rubystone
This Beetle has been built in the style of the “Cal look” Bugs which dominated the streets of Southern California (and beyond) during the 1980's,
Supplied with just 680 miles since a full nut and bolt rebuild by VW marque specialists, Type 2 detectives. The restoration includes a new long bonnet with new front wings, adorned with sloping headlamps, inc Porsche G – series glass, the windows are one piece and fully de-chromed, with smooth style trim less window rubbers.
Chassis and running gear: The chassis has undergone a full rebuild and has been treated to several layers of Raptor Chassis Coating. All mechanical parts are either new or fully rebuilt.
The brakes have been upgraded all round and include a front disc brake conversion supplied with 5 lug hubs to suit the polished 15” Fuchs style Porsche wheels.
The suspension has been mildly lowered with a new adjustable narrowed front beam and is now running uprated Bilstein dampers throughout. Wheels are 15” Fuch replicas which have been detailed in black & chrome, This Bug also benefits from a new wiring loom and electrics installed throughout.
Engine: 1641cc Air-cooled Flat 4 with Twin webber 34 ICT carburettors and a tuck away exhaust system.
Interior: The interior features Porsche seats re-stitched in black vinyl with classic Porsche material inserts, the interior also has a new headliner and carpets and a Gene Berg Gear lever + DAB CD / Aux / Radio with a pair of large speakers concealed behind the rear seats.
This Beetle has been meticulously put together, it’s a pleasure to drive and certainly turns heads wherever it is.
