The Dino 208 GT4 was launched when Ferrari decided to install a 2, 000 cc engine in the body of the Dino 308 GT4. The vehicle was primarily intended for the Italian market, where engines larger than 2 litres were overtaxed at the time. To reduce the engine's capacity, the bore of the 3-litre model was reduced and the stroke was maintained.
