Description

Alvis TE 21 from 1965. This model was number 270 of the 352 built in this year, 84 of which had automatic gearboxes.
The Alvis of this last generation were built by coachbuilder Mulliner-Park Ward, and were on a par with the Bentleys, Aston Martins, Bristols and Jensens. All the doors and roof were in aluminium, and the car was fitted with a 3-speed automatic gearbox, power steering, 4 power disc brakes, spoked wheels, radio and a large Webasto sunroof, recently redone in canvas to match the upholstery.
The entire interior is in leather, including the door jambs, the top of the dashboard and the woollen carpets. The front seats have just been reupholstered in quality leather. The rear seat retains its remarkable patina, and the engine is the original 3-litre 6-cylinder with matching numbers. It runs perfectly well and does not overheat. It is fitted with an additional fan, controlled manually.
Alvis was an aircraft engine manufacturer, and still builds armoured vehicles and military equipment. The car's history goes back to when it was delivered new in London in 1965, supplied by the parent company, now 'Red Triangle', which owns all the Alvis archives. I'm the 4th owner in 60 years, and the fuel tank is new, in stainless steel.
The brakes have been rebuilt and improved: the 4 brake calipers are new, in aluminium and with 4 pistons for the fronts. The brake hoses are aviation type, with stainless steel braiding, and the master cylinder has been rebuilt.
The cooling radiator has been completely rebuilt and the hoses are new.
The front springs and shock absorbers are new, as are the stabiliser bar bushes and silent-block.
The starter motor is new. The crankshaft damper pulley has just been changed and is new. The speedo and rev counter cables are new. Everything works perfectly, including the cigarette lighter and the on-board clock, recently repaired at Alvis (Red Triangle, the company supplying parts for the make, having bought the parts stock when the factory closed in '66). The radio lights up but does not transmit, as it is short-wave. The 4 tyres are new, upgraded to 205/ 70 x 15.
The paintwork is not new but looks good, despite a few marks of age and use. This rare English car is reliable and capable of travelling long distances, without apprehension. Extensive documentation, books, catalogues, tests, and binder of invoices for all the expenses listed above. French collector's registration in my name. No exchange.
