1949 Bristol 400 Present in freshly repainted in Aston Martin Chichester Blue coach work and recently restored Beige & Brown interior.
Stored from 1987 and professionally restored to concours standard, this classic vehicle presents a rare opportunity to own a beautifully preserved and upgraded example with a known history.
Originally placed in storage by Mr. Robert McKay in 1987, the car was untouched for 28 years before undergoing a full, frame-off restoration. The process began at O&S Sportscar Restoration in Sydney, where the body was completely dismantled, dipped, epoxy primed, and structural wood and metalwork renewed. Restoration was completed by renowned restorer Sebastian Gross in Kendall.
Mechanical Highlights:
- Engine fully rebuilt: bored cylinders, high-compression pistons, reground camshaft (405 profile), new oil pump, harmonic balancer, valve work, and more
- New SU carburetors, high-torque starter, rebuilt generator, electronic ignition
- Gearbox and differential fully rebuilt with new bearings and seals
- New clutch, lightened flywheel, and complete stainless exhaust system
- Fully refurbished braking system with new lines, cylinders, and linings

- Body restored and epoxy painted with clear coat finish
- Renewed steel and timber in critical areas (wheel arches, boot floor, etc.)

- New windscreen, rubbers, indicators, and exterior mirrors
Interior Restoration:
- Re-trimmed in Connolly Vaumol hides and English wool cloth (as originally fitted)
- New Wilton wool carpets and Dynamat sound insulation
- Restored African cedar dashboard, interior timber, and new headlining
- Refurbished original radio, gauges, and new steering wheel
- Inertia-reel seat belts fitted for safety
- All door and window rubbers renewed
Additional features include a rebuilt Enotts lubrication system, new toolkit and tyre pump, restored sun visors, and modern blinking indicators discreetly integrated.
