Description
The Austin-Healey 3000 is a British sports car built from 1959 until 1967. It is the best known of the "big Healey" models. The car's bodywork was made by Jensen Motors and the vehicles were assembled at BMC's MG Works in Abingdon, alongside the corporation's MG models.
During its production life, the car changed from an open sports car, transporting 2+2 option, to a sports convertible. In 1963, 91. 5 percent of all Austin-Healey 3000 cars were exported; mostly to North America. The 3-litre 3000 was a highly successful car, which won its class in many European rallies in its heyday and is still raced in classic car competitions by enthusiasts today.
In the Spring of 2002, this 4-Speed Manual Transmission with a working overdrive car was restored from chassis up, including complete engine rebuild and rebored with new pistons, work done by Holliana Restoration in Schenectady, NY. Cosmetics included new paint, virtually everything was rechromed, new dash board and glove box, new hater knobs and heater unit. A new wiring harness was installed as well as a new fuse layout and electronic ignition. Work on the brakes included rebuilt servo, new front and rear brakes, new brake lines and new front disks; new 72 spoke Daytons were also installed. Steering and handling improvements included new anti sway bars, rebuilt front and rear shocks, new bump boxes, and new bushes and some work on the spindles. The fuel tank was removed and refurbished, new glass all around. Front and rear springs are original.
