Hello, L'atelier des 1000 presents for sale this Jaguar E-Type series 1 coupe 2+2 which was delivered new in Montreal on March 4th 1966. The E-Type is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cars ever built. This 4. 2 version retained all the features of the Series 1, such as the headlight lenses, rear lights and superb rocker switches. It will be fitted with Girling front brakes to replace the Dunlop brakes fitted to the 3. 8. This car is Matching Number, it was originally black but was repainted red in the past, fortunately it has kept its original red leather interior which has a splendid patina. This model originated in Canada and was then exported to the United States before arriving in France recently.
Mechanically, the vehicle has its original 4. 2 engine fed by 3 SU carburettors and develops 265hp, just like the European versions. The engine starts easily with the key, without noise or smoke, and revs easily. The engine compressions have been read and indicate 11 bar on all cylinders. Originally fitted with an automatic gearbox, we can supply a mechanical gearbox for an additional 1000€.
The fuel tank has been cleaned, the fuel pump replaced and the carburettors overhauled.
The airbox, although removed on the photos, is still in place. The front axle is in good condition and the brakes have been removed.
The cooling system is in place and in good condition. The chromed wire wheels are in good condition and fitted with recent (2020) tyres that are also in good condition. The instrumentation is complete and the wiring harness is in place. The paintwork is old and the underbody has several areas of corrosion that need to be repaired. Our bodybuilder estimates that it will take around 60 hours of work to repair the underbody sheet metal in good condition.
The chrome is in good condition and perfectly shiny. The period upholstery brings an undeniable cachet to this car, the leathers are weathered but not torn and have retained a certain suppleness. The roof lining is in good condition as is the dashboard which is not cracked.
All in all, this E-Type is the cheapest available on the French market today, combining 4 major points: the car is a Series 1, it is complete, Matching Number and has a sublime original configuration.
