Lot 234
Property of a deceased's estate
1969 BSA 750cc Rocket III
Registration no. ABW 21G
Chassis no.

Essentially a ‘Tiger-and-a-half’, the Triumph and BSA 750cc triples were launched in 1969. BSA-Triumph had learned a lot about engine development from racing the 500cc twins, and the triples were the most powerful machines in their class. Differences between the Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket III were more than just cosmetic: the two models used different frames and in BSA guise the motor’s cylinder block was inclined forwards. Only the Trident survived the Group’s collapse in 1972.

Used and enjoyed by it’s late owner, this very early BSA Rocket III was supplied in January 1969 and carries a tax disc expiring in June '69. The machine is as older restoration that retains some original elements such as the seat upholstery. The front mudguard may be a pattern part, and the fork gaiters need to be replaced. The engine turns over with good compression. 'ABW 221G' was purchased in 2016 and currently displays a total of 21, 182 miles on the odometer. The machine is offered with a V5C document; an old MoT certificate; photocopied parts list and manual; and some invoices (including for a rebore, pistons, and a Boyer ignition at Sussex Triples). Please note that the V5C and HPI record the part number (62 9777) as part of the frame number. Two ignition keys present. Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent and thus is sold strictly as viewed.

All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams website for all pertinent auction information.
