Seemingly unmolested example
This model 16MS was first registered in UK and then exported to Guernsey in 2022. It comes with a Guernsey Registration Certificate for '13207' and copy of its old V5C registration document for 'UPJ 744'. It should be noted that Vehicle Registration Number 'UPJ 744' is associated with a 2022 'Export' marker in the HPI/ DVLA database. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to the validity and status of this motorcycle's registration prior to bidding. The successful purchaser is responsible for applying to the DVLA to retrieve the vehicle's registration number.
It should also be noted the accompanying VE. 60 continuation logbook, copy V5C Registration Certificate and copy old V5 all record the frame number as '016117MB' and engine number as '16M22334'. The frame number as stamped is 'A12738' and '+016117 M&B' and the actual full engine number is '54/ 16MS 22334' (see letter on file from 'Millards' confirming the error and correct details). Accordingly, prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to the originality, authenticity and provenance of this motorcycle prior to bidding.
This AJS Model 16MS is believed original and correct. Dry stored when not in use and currently displaying a total of 4, 746 miles on the odometer (at the time of cataloguing/ photography). The machine is said to be ready to serve its new owner over many miles of reliable service. Despite the large number of AJS and Matchless motorcycles produced during the 1950s, it is unusual to have the opportunity to purchase such an unmolested example.
