Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction - 29th May on Thursday the 29th of May. Background:
Sporting a design that felt both new and contemporary when it arrived, the Virage presented a significant departure from the older V8 model it succeeded. Its styling echoed the more angular lines of the Lagonda rather than its immediate predecessor. The potent 5. 3-litre V8 engine, equipped with 32 valves and generating a substantial 494Nm of torque, imbued the Virage with performance that rivalled genuine sports cars, delivering an experience of seemingly endless acceleration. The open-top Virage Volante made its first appearance in 1990.
The Car:
A rare gem from 1993, this Aston Martin Virage Volante stands out as a British convertible grand tourer with a unique story. Its factory-ordered Porsche Amazon Green exterior, a bespoke touch, makes it a one of a kind example. Adding to its desirability is a meticulous maintenance history, primarily documented through visits to authorised Aston Martin dealerships, including frequent servicing at Aston Martin Works.
Under the bonnet lies a naturally aspirated 5. 3-litre V8 engine, producing up to 330bhp which is delivered to the rear wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission. Having covered a mere 44, 464 miles, this low-mileage example was originally delivered to Jersey. It's one of only 233 Virage Volantes ever produced, with just 85 from the 1993 production year and the sole one finished in this special-request Porsche Amazon Green with a tailored interior.
Offered in superb, highly original and unrestored condition, this vehicle has been carefully stored in a custom-built, climate-controlled facility since 2017 (where it has been started and run regularly), ensuring its remarkable preservation. Interested buyers are encouraged to inspect this impeccably presented car in person. The exterior showcases the unique Porsche Amazon Green paintwork, complemented by a black mohair convertible roof. Inside, the Magnolia leather-trimmed interior features bespoke headrest cushions, a Spruce Green upper dashboard, along with elegant burr walnut trim inlays.
Notable factory features include cruise-control, a multi-functional steering wheel, an electrically operated convertible roof, switchable sport mode, air-conditioning and electrically adjustable and heated front seats. A modern Kenwood stereo with Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary inputs has been installed for enhanced connectivity.
The car comes with its original owners handbooks, tools, service books, original sales receipts, a heritage certificate, a Magnolia and Spruce-piped tonneau cover, two sets of keys, the build sheet and a comprehensive file of additional service paperwork detailing its history. There is no reported bodywork damage and the Porsche Amazon Green paint is described as being in excellent overall condition. The interior remains in superb condition, showing minimal wear, mainly slight creasing on the driver's seat edge and minor discolouration around the handbrake lever.
With no known mechanical or electrical faults and no dashboard warning lights, its most recent MOT test in 31 March 2025 resulted in a first-time pass at 44, 464 miles, with 'no advisories'. Maintenance records show the most recent service in. August 2023 at 44, 433 miles, by JD Classics when an annual service was carried out. (The car has covered 31 miles since this service). We are told that when the current owner purchased the car in 2017, they asked Aaron Martin Works service, to carry out a full service and correct any defects, however minor. Hence in December 2017 at 43, 980 miles, in addition to the service, the following work was carried out. A replacement throttle cable, track rod ends, HT leads, a battery, vacuum hoses, three tonneau cover studs and an air-conditioning conversion to modern R134a refrigerant. In addition all wornsound-proofing was replaced and an extensive two day detail was carried out at, with technicians consistently praising the car's impressive condition.
Boasting an extensive service history, covering two and half service books, documented through visits primarily to Aston Martin Works and also to Marque Specialists, this Aston Martin Virage Volante is a pristine, original example of a rare, coach-built convertible grand tourer with low mileage.
