Description
Biarritz Sports And Classic Cars (Bscc) is pleased to present this rare BMW Z1. The BMW Z1 was the first model in the Z series, which stands for "Zukunft" in German. Highly innovative for its time, it went on to become a collector's item with a production run of just 8, 000 units. Resolutely futuristic, aerodynamics were one of the Z1's strong points.
In addition to the flat underbody, the shape of the body also contributed to the car's excellent aerodynamics. Even the tailpipe of the exhaust system was designed to be aerodynamically favourable, as it is located in front of the diffuser, right in the air flow. When passengers enter the BMW Z1's cabin through the electrically opening doors, they have the unprecedented choice of whether or not to close them for the journey. Thanks to the high side skirts, safety in the event of a side impact was so high that it was permissible to drive with the doors open. In theory, the panels making up the car should have been able to be removed with a simple screwdriver to change the colour of the car as desired, but supply and use did not follow... This model in the 'Top Rot' livery, 'Grau' (grey) interior, has a mileage of just 60, 000km.
The car was imported from Germany in 1992 and has been driven for 3, 000 km by 3 French owners, the last of whom has owned it since 1999. Maintenance is carried out regularly and a file of invoices has been in our possession since 1993. The timing system and water pump were changed at 59, 000 km. It is fitted with 4 new tyres. The bonnet and front bumper have just been repainted. At the wheel, the combination of the 170 bhp 6-cylinder engine and the possibility of driving with the doors down will give you an immediate and highly original driving experience. A collector's item that combines reliability, style and sportiness.
