1958 Austin Healey 100/ 6s – Correct with matching numbers
In 1958, just ‘50’ cars were built by the Works for homologation (prepared for competition) and produced with four-wheel disc brakes.
It is believed that there were just 15 right hand drive models built and that 3 of these became the Healey team Works Cars.
We understand that 35, left hand drive models were exported to the USA.
The Healey Motor Company did not ‘formally’ record the actual cars that they converted and the ‘100/ 6S’ was never, in fact, a catalogued model.
As the 100/ 6 model was extremely unlikely to have been fitted with four wheel Dunlop disc brakes, post production, this would suggest that this particular car is one of the extremely rare ‘S’ models produced.
The 100/ 6S had Dunlop disc brakes all round, as used on the Jaguar C and D type and MGA Twin Cam and all were replicas of the prototype 100/ 6 that ran in the Mille Miglia.
The Heritage Certificate supplied, shows this car was built on 14th March 1958 and sent to the Austin Exhibition Hall at Longbridge. The specification included Dunlop Road Speed tyres, heater, overdrive and MPH speedometer. This car was registered to its first owner on 1st May 1958.
Acquired by the present owner 7 years ago, the car underwent extensive restoration both bodily and mechanically. The engine is still running in following it’s rebuild.
Mechanically the car is in fine condition and is reported to have covered just 75, 000 miles from new.
Correctly finished in Healey Blue and Old English White, there is new leather trim and all new weather equipment.
Correct with matching numbers this Healey is ready for the coming Summer.
She has great potential for competition use or touring. There is a file of documentation including an old style VE60 logbook, Heritage Certificate plus various bills and useful notes. There is also a copy of the driver’s handbook included.
