Here is an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of the rarest Daimler models of the post-war era: a Daimler Conquest Century Drophead Coupé DJ253, in left-hand drive (LHD), originally destined for the European and North American markets. This vehicle is a real barn find, recently discovered after many years in storage. Overall, it is complete and in structurally correct condition, ideal for a faithful restoration. The vehicle has not been modified and retains its original components. Unfortunately, no history or documents are available. Production History & Details: The DJ253 is the left-hand drive version of the Conquest Century cabriolet. Bodywork by Carbodies Ltd (Coventry), based on the DJ250 chassis with 100bhp Century engine (like the DJ256). Only 17 DJ253s were actually produced between 1954 and 1956 (instead of the 50 originally planned). To date, only five DJ253s are known to exist in the world: two in North America, two in Austria, and the latest in France.
Features: 4-seater convertible with original soft top. 4-speed manual gearbox with preselector. Original left-hand drive (not converted). Body complete but in need of restoration (no major corrosion visible to date). Original interior, upholstery and woodwork to be redone. Vehicle sold as is, for restoration. The vehicle is located in France (Paris region) and can be viewed by appointment. A true collector's item, rare on the market, not to be missed by British car enthusiasts or restoration specialists. I remain at your disposal for any further information, detailed photos or to arrange a viewing.
