Description
History: The BMW E30 series was built between 1982 and 1994 in the BMW plants in Germany, totalling around 2. 34 million units. The masterpiece was designed by the famous designer Paul Bracq, who had previously crafted the Mercedes-Benz Pagoda and many other automotive-design masterpieces. BMW’s philosophy of celebrating the joy of driving with good engineering has endured to this day. This is also reflected in the growing popularity of the E30 range in the classic-car world. In the last two production years of the E30, the Cabriolet was produced as a Design Edition in the exclusive Neon Blue colour and with the M‑Package, in a limited run of 250 units. This E30 was first registered in Zurich in July 1992 and was regularly driven until 2010, as the unimpeachable maintenance records show. In the following years the Cabriolet was rebuilt from the ground up. No compromises were made on the quality materials or workmanship. According to the previous owner, a acknowledged restoration expert, there is nothing that has not been renewed in recent years. Bodywork and paintwork: The paint was renewed in a disassembled state. The original Neon Blue has a fantastic deep gloss and the measurements are excellent. Interior: The completion of the restoration was the interior, which was completely renewed from soundproofing to carpets and seats. The high-quality hood, which has only seen one summer, is also new. Engine and mechanics: The engine and exhaust values are flawless. The full maintenance record (maintenance every two years) is documented. The original service book and the user manual in the original BMW service folder are also present. Chassis: Both the suspension and the brakes show peak values on the test stand, which was also confirmed during the fresh MOT/ veteran inspection in February 2024. Driving experience: At 113 bhp the 318i is not a race car, but it transports its occupants comfortably and safely on all roads. The suspension and brakes are BMW-like and offer a high level of comfort and safety. The open-air feeling for four passengers in this cult cabrio is a true delight and probably the highlight of this stylish cabrio. Recommendation: BMW promises to do everything in the classic world to maintain its cult status at a high level. Those watching the market will notice that beside the E9, Z1, Z8 and the M‑classics, the BMW E30 is also coming on strongly. Such an elaborately restored specimen is a safe bet for driving fun and certainly a classic that will retain its value. Add to this its collector status in the Design Edition in Neon Blue, produced only 250 times.
