This car started life as an automatic LHD 2+2 Full Head Coupe and was exported new to the USA. Our vendor purchased the car in the 1990’s and had a Jaguar specialist in Doncaster convert the car to Roadster format. Fortunately, the specialist had purchased a supply of genuine factory panels from Jaguar in order to achieve a perfect roadster. At the same time the steering was converted to RHD.
Mechanically, the engine was also upgraded from US to home market specification with regard to the fuel system. The last main change related to the gearbox, but rather than fit a standard 4-speed unit an upgrade to a 5-speed was installed. The car was resprayed following its conversion from Red to the lovely Silver it wears today.
Clearly, much expenditure has been made to ensure that the work undertaken has been of the highest quality. The vendor has had Jaguar Club officials inspect the car for insurance purposes, they had high praise for the quality of the work and found it difficult to differentiate between this and an original RHD roadster. The car still wears the original identity plate showing the original specification so that there is no doubt as to its authenticity.
The vendor will be supplying a large folder of all the works that have been undertaken during his ownership along with a new replacement speedometer to replace the failed odometer.
