No Reserve - 39, 000 miles

Registration No: L905 YFP
Chassis No: VF320AHDthe details below

Only 39, 000 miles from new
Supplied new by, and first registered to, Peugeot agents Castles of Leicester, as a dealer demonstrator
Purchased by the first private owner in November 1993 and retained by them until 2019
Offered with a history file including the original book pack
Prior to Peugeot's acquisition of Chrysler's European car divisions in 1978, the company was best known as the maker of bland but competent big saloons. The little Gerrard Welter-penned 205 changed all that, becoming an instant hit and ultimately one of the most successful small European models of all time. The Peugeot 205 Style was offered as a three- or five-door car, in petrol or diesel, with the petrol engine producing 75bhp from 1, 360cc.

This 205 may look humble and unassuming, but it’s really quite remarkable. Consider this – 25, 000 petrol and diesel 205 Styles were on British roads in 1995, but by 2024 that figure had fallen to 574 on SORN and just 90 licensed. This car has had only four private owners, having originally served Castles of Leicester as a dealer demonstrator. It was sold with five miles on it in November, 1993, to Mr. S. Stevenson, who kept it until 2019. It was carefully maintained by Castle Motors until 2006, then Robins & Day Peugeot until 2008, and marque specialist St. Peter’s Autos from then until 2015.

With only 39, 000 miles behind it, this Peugeot’s state of preservation is extraordinary. It retains its original floor mats and dealer-fitted rear number plate and, what is more, it has a fresh MOT with no advisories. The paperwork includes the V5C, copious invoices, a new vehicle handover sheet, the original sales invoice, multiple MOTs and the original book pack, including the service book with 21 entries. Enthusiasts are coming to appreciate that these once-ubiquitous cars are now vanishingly rare, and with events like the Festival of the Unexceptional they are enjoying a timely renaissance. Having lasted so well for so long, this 205 fully deserves another owner who will keep it going far into the future.
