Splendid Citroën DS Chapron Convertible, a handcrafted replica built in 2014 with DS 21 carburettor mechanics, 4-speed manual gearbox and power steering. It faithfully follows the original specifications used by Henri Chapron, the renowned coachbuilder who in the 1960s transformed DS saloons into elegant cabriolet versions. This car represents one of the most accurate and carefully prepared replicas on the market, perfectly homologated as a DS Cabriolet: the word “replica” does not appear in the documents. The car also retains its original 1971 number plate, a valuable historical asset.
Work and Conversion
The chassis was properly reinforced according to Chapron specifications, a necessary condition for re-registration and testing. During the conversion the following were completely rebuilt: mechanics, hydraulic system, interior, retractable soft top, bringing the car to a condition equivalent to new. After restoration the DS has seen very little use and has always been kept in a garage: complete absence of rust and critical points.

This is not a simple DS cabriolet cut from a saloon: all the typical Chapron details have been replicated with great accuracy, including:
• Dedicated doors with the specific silhouette and structure
• Extended rear bonnet with Chapron profile
• Original Chapron badges
• Interiors in Chapron style
• Fully retractable soft top
• Single jack lifting point (instead of the two of the saloon)
• Chapron rear light units
• Period-correct exterior colour
• Many other finely crafted details that make it indistinguishable from an original
