- This unusual model is the brainchild of an English engineer who, noting the number of MGs being scrapped for corrosion problems in the 1980s, decided to build a roadster using their mechanical elements and evoking pre-war sports cars, in particular the Aston Martin Ulster.
The result, sold as a kit or built from scratch, was an aluminium and fibre body mounted on a special chassis that took the front and rear axles of the MGBs, as well as the instrumentation and anything else it could salvage.
Originally intended for the MGB's 1800cc 4-cylinder engine, its success and quest for performance led it to develop a version equipped with the V8 engine of the Rover 3500 SD1 and other Range Rovers, which were also 'organ donors'. This model is powered by a Rover SD1 V8, with its 5-speed gearbox, and fed by a Holley 4-barrel carburettor for a little more power. The result is a particularly attractive vehicle with pre-war styling, but with more than enough performance for today's traffic, and a high level of reliability. The cost of any repairs is also kept to a minimum thanks to the use of MG and Rover parts.
This car is registered as a collector's car with a 20hp tax rating, corresponding to the v8 engine.
