THE MERCEDES-AMG S63
It is without doubt that Mercedes' S-Class has always been the testbed for advances in luxury, comfort and technological driver aids, but with the 2024 S63E, AMG drew from Formula 1 to produce the most powerful S-Class ever. AMG's E PERFORMANCE system puts a handcrafted AMG 4. 0L V8 at the front and an electric motor at the rear. Together, they make 791bhp and an astonishing 1, 055lb-ft of torque and enable acceleration from 0 to 60 in only 3. 2 seconds. The impressive torque results from the positioning of the electric motor: By placing it at the rear, it bypasses the 9-speed transmission and converts its energy into immediate propulsion. This architecture helps weight distribution to make the S-Class a surprisingly agile machine in the corners. And with ultimate control over the blend of power, the car can be driven in full electric mode or tarmac-shredding Sport+.
Cosmetic enhancements include an AMG grille, 21-inch forged wheels and twin tailpipes to announce the AMG credentials, while passengers are cosseted in fine Nappa leather throughout the interior. The now usual touch screen digital displays offer control over the car's driving and entertainment systems, including 64-color Ambient Lighting settings.
THE CAR OFFERED
This AMG S63E Performance was delivered new to Atlantic City. Finished in striking MANUFAKTUR colors Moonlight White Metallic over a bold Signature Yacht Blue and Black interior accented with Piano Black trim. The car was ordered with a plethora of options, nearly $40, 000 in total. Nearly $30, 000 of the options were for interior features with boxes for the MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Interior Package ($10, 500), the exterior carbon fiber accent package ($5, 300), the incredible Burmeister 4D Surround Sound System ($6, 800), rear seat package ($4, 150), rear seat entertainment system ($4, 150), Performance Steering Wheel ($500), and the all-season floormats (a mere $170) for carpet protection in more varied climate use. The accompanying window sticker states the total cost was over $220, 000.
