We are very pleased to offer a total head turner 1966 Ford Cortina Mk1. This car just stops people in their tracks and who can blame them? Created as a Scalextric tribute this Mk1 has had a huge amount of time and effort put into it and the end results are a fun Fast Ford Classic that is just as happy on the twisty stuff, being admired at shows or going flat out around a track. Finished in Mercedes yellow with a distinctive black flash and enhanced with period decals and thirteen inch deep dish Compomotive wheels. This Mk1 has also only had two previous owners in 59 years with the last one caring for it for 19 years. In 2007 it was the front cover and feature car in Classic Ford Magazine, it has a six page feature detailing the build and its long list of upgrades.
On the road is where the fun starts. This is a real drivers machine and it really flies. Fitted with a 1700cc Supersprint OHV engine, with a gas flowed cylinder head, oversized valves, high lift cam, cast pistons, lightened and balanced flywheel, uprated clutch and those beautiful twin 40 Weber carbs. The results are a very useable amount of flexible power, it flies round the rev band but is very easy to drive and well behaved mixed with that highly addictive intake burble. To match the performance it has been lowered to a sensible level and has uprated four pot callipers. It has recently also just been fully worked through, tuned and serviced so it is ready to make you smile.
The interior is well presented and functional. This is a drivers car and it has all the correct dials and gauges a Driver could need. It has period bucket seats with matching rears, quick shift, rev counter, navigation lamp, kill switch and a sports steering wheel, what else do you need? The boot area is fully carpeted and now houses the battery and the engine bay is nicely detailed.
The Cortina is very well presented and offered in a ready to drive and enjoy condition. It has gleaming paintwork that could be improved in areas as this is an older restoration. It is very solid underneath and has been carefully garaged. What it does offer is entry into the Fast Ford world without spending huge amounts more and it will also make you very popular as everyone loves this Cortina.
