Finished in the timeless combination of Nautical Blue with Grey Cloth this lovely 300SL was supplied new by Rivervale Reading in August 1987 to a gentleman from Windsor. Clearly the owner was impatient to start enjoying his new convertible with a Continental trip, since the car’s maintenance record shows the first service was performed by a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Limoges, France, at 586 miles.
By 1989 the car had changed hands and was owned by Ronald Dutton of Chester with 11, 000 miles on the clock. For the next ten years and 30, 000 miles Two Mills Garage of Ledsham looked after the car for Mr Dutton until it passed into the ownership of Nottinghamshire man Simon Selkin. Simon enjoyed the car for 13 years, doing around 1, 000 miles a year and having it looked after by his local Mercedes-Benz specialist, Mercedes of Basford. The same garage continued to service the car for its next owner, David Pemberton, between 2001 and 2018, by which time the mileage had crept up to 73, 000 miles. A brief spell in Ireland followed, then in January 2020 the car came back to England and into the hands of its present owner with just 73, 700 miles recorded. In the last five years only a few hundred miles have been recorded.
Throughout its life this 300SL has been maintained carefully, as the large number of invoices on file will confirm. Also present are MoT certificates dating back to 1998, a service book, the factory data card, copies of previous V5C documents, spare key and alarm remotes.
A really nice genuine example of its type, this 300SL is ready for its next owner to enjoy.
