The Honda Civic is a compact model and was built in the fourth generation from 1987 to 1991 as a 3-door, as a 4-door saloon and as a sporty CRX coupe. It was a revolutionary, modern and sporty vehicle that had a very elegant, clean design, especially the 3-door models and the CRX coupes were well-proportioned and looked very sporty due to the large glass areas and the short overhangs. They did not just look sporty, they were sporty as well. A modern suspension combined with very sophisticated and modern light-alloy engines with injection, a regulated catalyst and 16 valves gave the vehicles very good performance; the suspensions with independent wishbone suspension were designed with a great safety margin. The compact 3‑door and CRX drive like go-karts, and with power steering they are effortless to manoeuvre. Even by today’s standards, a Honda Civic drives modern and safely. Unlike today’s cars, the visibility and overview are excellent, which conveys a generously roomy amount of space. The build quality was excellent and at the time even surpassed that of German manufacturers.
Our Honda Civic 1. 5i-16V has been delivered first to Switzerland. Mrs Gertrud - Eberle-Fischer, born 05. 03. 1926, bought the Honda on 05. 06. 1991 from the local Honda dealer Garage P. Schmidfi in Zurich. She ordered the Honda in Vienna Blue Metallic, with a 4-speed automatic transmission and an electric sunroof. In the following years Mrs Eberle regularly took the Civic for inspection to the local Honda authorised dealer. The Civic is accident-free and completely rust-free. It has minimal signs of use and looks like a year-old car. It was used in winter, the interior is as new, the engine bay and boot are incredibly clean and look like they did on the very first day. It has few signs of wear and conveys a year-old-car feel.
All owner’s manuals, tools and keys are present. We have just serviced the Civic, fitted new tyres and will still arrange an MOT with H-licence, so it will cost only 192 CHF road tax per year and can be insured with a very favourable classic-car policy. It can also be driven in environmental zones.
