Description
Brand new to the market in the USA, this Jaguar XK 120 Roadster is a desirable "M" version, which stands for "Modified" and corresponds to the SE "Special Equipment" version in Europe. It was distinguished from the standard version by several sporting features: a more sophisticated camshaft, a crankshaft damper, spoke wheels, dual exhaust, 35. 4 mm torsion bars, a lightened flywheel, stiffer rear springs, and Lucas fog lights. With these modifications, the engine produced 180 SAE horsepower instead of 160 HP.
This splendid example has been owned by the same owner to date. The car has undergone extensive work. The original engine has been completely rebuilt by Harper and, regarding the original cylinder head (which will be supplied with the car), it has been replaced with another modified for the use of lead-free petrol. The gearbox and differential have been rebuilt; the chassis has also been rebuilt, as has the steering. The rear springs have been rebuilt and telescopic dampers have been fitted to the rear (reversible modification). The electrical system has been redone, allowing the installation of a single 12-volt battery with the negative earth.
For safety reasons, stainless steel XK 140-style wire wheels were fitted, although the original steel wire wheels will also be supplied. The bonnet, tonneau cover and side deflectors have been replaced and are in excellent condition.
