Our Jaguar XK120 Convertible, registered in 1954, was imported from the United States in 1992 before being acquired by its current owner in 2011.

The interior, well preserved, and the functioning on-board instruments attest to the care given to this vehicle.

Under the bonnet, this XK120 has the inline six of 3. 4 litres developing 160 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. This example has benefited from numerous discreet improvements aimed at enhancing reliability and comfort:

- Additional electric cooling fan for better cooling
- Electronic ignition for greater reliability

- Conversion to 12V and a modern alternator
- Five-speed gearbox for smoother driving (original knob)

Maintenance has been carried out by a specialist in classic vehicles, with a complete invoice file since 2011. This example is entirely rust-free. A full service was completed in February 2025, ensuring optimal mechanical condition. No expenses are anticipated.

Model History:

The Jaguar XK120, produced between 1948 and 1954, is Jaguar’s first sports car since the end of the SS 100 in 1939. Shown at the London Motor Show in 1948, it originally served as a showcase for the new XK engine, designed by William Heynes. Faced with public enthusiasm, Jaguar’s founder, Sir William Lyons, decided to put it into production.

The first 242 units were built with a wooden chassis and an aluminum body, before switching to steel in 1950. Its name refers to its top speed of 120 mph (190 km/ h), making it the fastest production car in the world at the time. In a test in Belgium in 1949, a prototype even reached 217 km/ h.

The model was offered in three variants: roadster (OTS), fixed-head coupe (FHC) and drop-head coupé (DHC). Its 3. 4 L inline six with a double overhead cam develops 160 bhp with a four-speed manual transmission. The XK120 excelled in racing and endurance, exceeding 100 mph over 24 hours at Montlhéry.

One of the early examples was delivered to actor Clark Gable. Today, the XK120 is an icon of the 1950s.
