Description

1968 Austin Mini MkII Rally Car

Ex-Will Dick historic rally Mini with International competition history, believed to have been a competition car from new with Works and Abingdon components and huge spec

1300cc block (1310cc) that's seen lots of work - it goes like stink with Salisbury LSD and straight cut gears.

Perspex side windows, fully removable bonnet

Rallied initially by David Harthill, a member of Wolverhampton & South Staffs Car Club at national and International level until he sold it in 1972 just after the '72 Scottish Rally.

Ex-John Rhodes Engineering man Will Dick bought the car, competing in the '76, '76 and '77 rallies organised by the WSSCC coming 23rd overall, the highest place of any Mini (the field was full of Escort RS rally cars).

We gather the car was re-shelled in 1974 using the ex-Barriw (Whizzo) Williams 1972 BTCC Group 5 1300 as a donor vehicle, then taking part in many events before going into storage in the mid-80s.

We gather the engine has Special Tuning 11-stud 1300 block with 1310cc capacity , 12G940 cylinder-head, rally profile cams by Kent, duplex steel timing gears and Works C/ AEG steel flywheel and clutch with twin SU carbs, a Maniflow LCB manifold and Works-style exhaust system. In addition we also see fitment of a Tony Fall sump gaurd and oil cooler.

We are also told the gearbox was rebuilt prior to sale in 2017 and features an all-synchro unit with straight cut drop gears, roller-bearings and Salisbury LSD and central oil pick-up.

Re-commissioned by Will Dick himself before being sold at auction in 2017 where our vendor bought it and since spent a small fortune £12k+) stripping and re-painting the car in the red and white we see today. Since which time the car has covered less than a handful of miles, its begging to be used and enjoyed once again.

The history file includes the V5C, some old competition history, auction description and some photos along with some spare perspec side windows and other bits.
