Description
The 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider 1600 is one of the most elegant and iconic Spider family versions produced by Alfa Romeo in the 1960s. In fact, the name “Giulia Spider” indicates the evolution of the previous Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, updated with the new 1600 engine from the Giulia series.
• Engine: inline four, 1, 570 cc
• Power: around 92 bhp
• Fuel system: Weber twin-barrel carburettor
• Top speed: ~170 km/ h
• Gearbox: 5-speed manual (very advanced for the era)
• Drive: rear-wheel
This engine was derived directly from the Alfa Romeo Giulia saloon, but was adapted for a sportier and more spirited drive.
The Spider’s design was signed by Pininfarina, one of Italy’s most renowned carrozzieri.
Clean lines, a long bonnet and a short tail make it a true classic roadster:
• Folding fabric hood
• Simple yet refined interiors
• Low, sporty driving position
It was a car conceived more for driving pleasure than for absolute comfort.
In 1964 the “Giulia Spider 1600” progressively replaced the Giulietta Spider:
• More powerful and faster
• Better engine flexibility/ torque
• Technical updates (brakes, suspension)
This version represents a bridge between two eras: the lightness of 1950s cars and the more modern performance of the 1960s.
It is not just a car, but a symbol of an era when driving was pure and analogue, Italian design ruled the world and Alfa Romeo built cars with an authentic sporting soul.
The car we present comes in overall excellent condition, in the most iconic colour.
