Description
1973 MGB Roadster – Running project with overdrive – solid structure
This 1973 MGB Roadster was imported from Oregon, USA and was last registered there in 2013. The car is offered as an honest running project that would benefit from mechanical recommissioning and cosmetic restoration.
Originally finished in white, the car was repainted black in the past. The paint now shows its age and a full respray would eventually be required.
We recently recommissioned the car in our workshop after a long period of storage. The engine is running and shows good oil pressure. It received an oil service, valve adjustment and a new valve cover gasket. The Weber carburetor would benefit from further tuning or servicing.
The body structure appears solid overall. Floors and sills look strong. There is rust visible in the rear dogleg areas and surface rust in the trunk floor caused by previous water ingress.
Mechanically the car will require further attention. The brakes initially functioned but the master cylinder failed and will need replacement. The clutch operates and the gearbox selects gears. The car is equipped with the desirable factory overdrive, although we were not able to test its operation.
The odometer shows 8. 096 miles, likely 108. 096 miles.
The interior requires refurbishment. The convertible top is usable but aging and has a small tear.
This is a straightforward MGB project with a running engine, solid main structure and good potential to be improved into a very enjoyable classic sports car.
The car comes with US Oregon title and EU import duties have been paid. We can assist with transport throughout Europe.
