Description
Recently rebuilt example of Morgan’s first four wheeled model, the 4/ 4.
The car is smartly presented in British Racing Green with grey interior and a black tonneau cover.
The Morgan has been rebuilt with VSCC competition in mind as comes with catch tanks and a fuel pump isolator as well as a VSCC buff form issued for a standard car.
Fitted with a Coventry Climax 10HP engine, our car was despatched from the Morgan factory on 21st January, 1939 according to a letter from the MSCC Historic Register.
The correct Meadows four speed reverse gate gearbox is fitted with synchromesh on 3rd and top gears.
Under the bonnet everything is neatly presented as you would expect for a car built with competition in mind. It is fitted with a Kenlowe electric fan and a Dynamotor.
The engine starts readily and on the road the little Morgan performs very well. The engine is lively while the steering and handling are excellent thanks to Morgan’s sliding pillar front suspension. The clutch, gearbox and brakes all work well.
A very comprehensive file accompanies the car with a vast quantity of receipts, Workshop Manual, original Instruction Book, extensive restorer’s notes and a computer stick containing photos of the rebuild.
The restorer’s notes are very informative and detail everything that has been done to the car. Essentially every component has been checked and overhauled or replaced where necessary.
This is a most enjoyable car and offers an affordable entry point into VSCC racing where there is another example competing in the Owner Driver Mechanic series.
A video of the car can be viewed on the St Andrews Autos YouTube channel.
We would be happy to consider taking a classic vehicle in part exchange and Nationwide delivery can be arranged.
