Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. The Ferrari 550 Maranello is widely regarded as one of the marque’s defining modern grand tourers, marking a return to the traditional front-engined, rear-wheel drive V12 format. Styled by Pininfarina, its proportions recall the Ferrari 365 GTB/ 4 Daytona, with a long bonnet, compact cabin and purposeful stance. Powered by a naturally aspirated 5. 5-litre, 48-valve V12 producing 485bhp and paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 550 offers a refined yet engaging driving experience. Its tubular steel chassis, aluminium bodywork and fully independent suspension with selectable damping contribute to balanced handling and strong performance, with capability approaching 200mph.
This 1998 example is finished in Blu Tour de France (522), complemented by a tan leather interior, a combination well suited to the model’s understated design. The cabin presents in excellent order, benefitting from a recent dashboard retrim and refreshed rear shelf carpeting, addressing known age-related issues.
The odometer displays 68, 221 miles at the time of cataloguing, with just 4, 353 miles covered since April 2019. During this period, the car has formed part of a private Collection and been stored in a humidity-controlled environment. Notwithstanding its limited recent use, the car has been maintained appropriately.
In excess of £13, 000 has been spent with Ferrari specialists Keys Motorsport of Silverstone in the past two years. In October 2025, works included an annual service and inspection, replacement brake discs and pads, brake master cylinder, air conditioning compressor, windscreen demister attention and dashboard removal and retrim. In October 2024, the car received its major service, including cambelt and auxiliary belt replacement. An annual service in October 2023 also included a rear wheel bearing assembly and lower front wishbone bushes.
The car is accompanied by its original Ferrari wallet containing all handbooks and service books, together with a history file that includes the original Vehicle Order Form supplied by Graypaul, supporting its provenance.
With eight former keepers recorded, this example presents as a well-maintained and sensibly used car, now offered from a private Collection. The 550 Maranello’s combination of V12 performance, manual transmission and elegant specification continues to underpin its standing within the market.
Offered with a comprehensive history file and recent specialist maintenance, this represents an opportunity to acquire a well-presented example of one of Ferrari’s most respected modern grand tourers.
