Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. Introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1992, the BMW E36 M3 marked a clear departure from its E30 predecessor, moving to a more refined and usable performance car while retaining characteristic Motorsport credentials from decades of development. Power came from BMW’s S50 3. 0-litre straight-six engine, featuring individual throttle bodies and variable valve timing (VANOS), delivering smooth, linear performance. The range was further developed in 1995 with the arrival of the M3 Evolution, powered by the 3. 2-litre S50B32 producing 321bhp, paired with a 6-speed manual or optional SMG transmission, along with chassis and braking improvements that reinforced its reputation as one of the standout performance cars of the era.
Offered here is this exceptional E36 M3 Evolution, showing just over 24, 000 miles from new. A UK specification, manual gearbox, right-hand drive example ordered through Jacksons of Jersey, it is finished in Dakar Yellow with heated black Nappa leather seats, dual-zone climate control and BMW Business audio with CD changer.
This example benefits from a known and well documented ownership history from new. The original owner, a mature gentleman, sold the car to a friend on the island, who later imported it into the UK. It was subsequently acquired by noted BMW M3 specialist Steven Keen, before passing to our vendor, who has maintained contact with him over the years.
Today the car presents in exceptional condition throughout. The Dakar Yellow paintwork is understood to be entirely original and displays a consistent finish across the bodywork. The black Nappa ‘Vader’ seats are particularly well preserved, along with the switchgear and carpets. The engine starts readily, runs smoothly and on the road the car feels tight and responsive, delivering the linear power and balance for which the E36 M3 is known.
It is accompanied by a comprehensive history file including the original purchase order, book pack, service book, owner’s manuals, spare keys, specialist inspection reports and a substantial collection of invoices and MOT Certificates supporting the low-mileage.
In summary, this represents an opportunity to acquire a low-mileage, low ownership E36 M3 Evolution with known history from new, presented in one of the model’s most recognisable colour combinations. Comparable low-mileage examples have achieved astonishing results at auction in recent years with a notable sale of a low-mileage, Dakar Yellow car reaching over £215, 000 in 2022 at public auction, underlining the growing appreciation of well-preserved examples such as this.
