RARE 1935 CROSSLEY 2L SPORTS SALOON. FOR RESTORATION.
The 1935 Crossley 2-Litre Sports Saloon is an exceptionally rare British classic car, part of a limited production run that essentially defined the end of Crossley Motors' era of passenger car manufacturing.
The Crossley 2-litre Sports Saloon was manufactured between 1933 and 1934. Approximately 25 were made of which three and some remains of two others survive.
The car was built on a 'new' chassis designed specifically for this model in the early 1930s.
It had a 1991cc (2-Litre) S6 OHV (overhead valve) engine.
This relatively high-compression engine produced approximately 61 bhp, allowing for a claimed top speed of 75–80 mph.
It featured a Wilson pre-selector gearbox as standard.
Approximately 25 units were manufactured between 1933 and 1934.
It is one of the rarest pre-war cars, with only three known survivors remaining today.
One specific 1934 model with Ranalah bodywork is noted as the only one currently road-worthy.
Typical features included dark green leather upholstery, woodwork with light patina, and distinctive diamond-shaped door handles.
By 1935, Crossley was shifting its focus toward military vehicles and buses.
Chassis numbers range from 16/ 101 to 16/ 125
The engine was based on that used in the 15. 7 and Silver but featured higher compression ratio and modified cylinder head and timing and was virtually identical to the ones Crossley had been supplying to Lagonda for their 16/ 80 model. The substantial chassis was to a new design.

The chassis number is 16/ 116 with motor number 16/ 119.
It is thought the bodywork was by Ranalah of Kew, previously branded as John Charles.
They cost £695 new including the factory fitted sliding sunroof which our example has.
Owned for many years in a small private collection, BND 403 was running and driving but has been dry stored for many years.
Condition is as per photos.
The car looks to be in original unmolested condition with sought after ENV type 110 pre-selector but will require extensive recommissioning throughout and accordingly is sold as it stands, without reserve.
The vehicle is supplied with a contemporary V5 and original buff logbook dating to 1935.
