FRANCON TOURER CYCLECAR OR VOITURETTE C1924The Françon (often spelled Françon or Francon) was a French light car produced in Rueil between 1922 and the early 1930s. The 1924 model is typically classified as a cyclecar or 'voiturette' and was available in a tourer or open-body configuration. According to automotive archives like Auta5P and Marc's French Vintage Automobiles, the 1924 Françon 6 CV featured:* A unique supercharged two-cylinder, two-stroke engine designed by Chedru. Capacity: Displaced 664cc (with dimensions of 62mm x 110mm). Power Output: Approximately 14 HP (10 kW).* Used friction drive transmission with a final drive by chain in an oil bath.* Semi-elliptic springs at the front and double quarter-elliptic springs at the rear.* Typically a 2-seater open tourer with a single door. The company, sometimes listed as Moteurs & Automobiles Françon, produced limited numbers of these vehicles during the post-WWI "cyclecar boom" in France. Rarity: Surviving examples are extremely rare, though a 1920 chassis is known to have been exhibited at the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim in Germany. This example is stamped with a Chassis Number of 732. It appears to be complete but 360° cataloguing was not possible due to the way it was parked in the barn. The multiple photos are attached to its current condition – this rare little French voiturette is offered without reserve. There is no V5 or history file with this vehicle.
