Description
Essentially a monster-truck version of the G-Wagon, the G500 4x4 Squared features portal axles that lift the chassis, giving it a massive 17. 2 inches of ground clearance. The stance is also widened by nearly 9 inches compared to a standard G-Class. The suspension features a dual-strut setup at each corner, with one damper electronically adjustable to keep the tall body stable during tarmac cornering, while its off-road stats are industry-leading, with a 39-inch wading depth and three independent locking differentials. The G500 4x4 Squared is a fantastic all-rounder, with masses of presence on and off-road.
Under the bonnet, the 4x4 Squared is powered by a 4. 0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing approximately 416 bhp and a massive 450 lb-ft of torque. While the vehicle weighs over three tonnes, this V8 powerhouse provides enough power to propel the massive SUV from 0 to 60 mph in about 7 seconds, and the sound while doing so is very impressive, thanks to the dual-exit side exhausts.
The exterior is equipped with a roof-mounted LED light bar and front and rear chassis guards, helping to protect smaller cars from sliding underneath the high chassis. Due to the increased width and wheels, stylish carbon fibre wheel arches are fitted, virtually doubling the width of a standard G wheel arch.
Inside, the cabin gets the usual Mercedes-Benz high-quality luxury, topped off with ultra-luxurious Designo leather, quilted Dinamica microfibre, and stunning carbon fibre trim throughout.
This 2018 model served as the final boss of the original W463 platform before Mercedes transitioned to the all-new G-Class design, making it one of the most capable and collectable off-roaders ever produced and a definite must-have for any G-Class enthusiast.
