Al igual que el F12 TdF, por encima del F12 estándar, la 812 Competizione es el hermano mayor, potenciado y de tirada limitada, de la 812 Superfast. La potencia se incrementa respecto a la Superfast de 789 hp, a 819 hp en la Competizione. Una representación técnica y aerodinámica de la última tecnología que se va filtrando desde la Fórmula 1 y el programa de desarrollo Corse Clienti hacia los coches de carretera más humildes.
The 6. 5 litre block is carried forwards, but the internals have been heavily fettled. New pistons, titanium ***-rods are 40 per cent lighter and coupled with a rebalanced crank (three per cent lighter than before), new cylinder heads, F1-tech for the cams, a redesigned intake system (across manifold and plenum) and variable geometry inlet tract, the redline is elevated to 9, 500rpm.
Extensive use of carbon fibre sees the Competizione lose 38 kg over the Superfast, all whilst delivering 30% more front downforce. Limited to just 999 examples, the 812 Competizione sold out completely ahead of launch.
