Body / Exterior:
The model presented here is a 944 Turbo delivered new in France in May 1988 in its original colour “Steingrau LY7U” (matching colour).
It is today in good presentational condition.
After a professional polish using an orbital machine by our workshop, we noted a light stone chipping on the front face, a small paint touch-up on the engine hood, and 3 minor dings. We also noted a ding on the roof and a light scuff. A few minor paint chips are visible along the leading edge of the driver's door.
We observed a few fine scratches on the windscreen.
The front and rear bumpers are in good condition, with no signs of impact or deformation. We noted some rub marks along their edges.
The pop-up headlights work perfectly with no cracks or sealing issues.
The original 16” “Phone” wheels are in good condition, with no dents or deformations aside from light rubbing on the edges and on the PORSCHE motif on the front left wheel.
Overall shod with GOODYEAR tyres showing 20% wear at the front and 25% at the rear.
Central locking is non-functional.
This example retains its space saver spare wheel as well as its original tool kit, compressor and jack.
Among the notable body features and options included are:
The 4 “Phone” 16” wheels, and the rear wiper.
Interior:
The interior retains its original stripped configuration and is in very good overall condition.
The mixed leather / fabric upholstery in colour “Schwarz” is in very good original condition, with only a slight patina near the entry point and a minor scuff on the driver’s seat bolster.
The driver’s seat with electric adjustment is fully functional.
The door caps in black synthetic leather and carpets in “Schwarz” are also very good, with no signs of ingress, deformation or discolouration.
The dashboard and its black synthetic leather cap are in very good condition, with no cracks or deformities.
All on-board instruments are fully functional, as is the original digital clock.
The original radio has been replaced by a fully working ALPINE CD radio.
The original 4‑spoke leather steering wheel shows signs of use. We note a scuff on the leather gear knob.
The perforated black headlining is taut and defect-free.
The carpets in “Schwarz” are in good condition, with a wear mark near the driver’s side.
Among interior equipment and options of interest on this example are:
Air conditioning, electric driver’s seat, folding rear bench seat, power windows and ALPINE CD radio.
Chassis:
The inspection confirms a solid shell with no signs of collision or structural corrosion.
Foundations: floor pans, sills, spare wheel well, wheel arches and longitudinal members are in excellent condition.
Usage reserve: as a principle we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their good visual and functional condition verified on road test and during the static inspection.
During the dynamic test, no abnormal rattles or noises were detected from the body or suspension components (ball joints, bushings...).
Braking is balanced, stable and progressive, without vibrations or abnormal noises.
Front brake discs show 40% wear and rear discs will be replaced prior to delivery.
Front brake pads show 40% wear and 20% wear on the rear.
A pre-delivery technical inspection by our workshop will confirm everything is functioning correctly.
Engine:
The mechanicals are in perfect working order.
The timing and service were carried out in 2024 at 209, 000 km (invoice €3, 291).
During this work the following parts were replaced: belt tensioner, belt tensioner rollers, timing belt, auxiliary belt, serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat, coolant, water temperature sensor, 4 spark plugs, oil filter, fuel filter, engine oil 5W30 and the battery.
The 4-cylinder turbo starts promptly and idling is stable, as confirmed by the 360° video of the engine running available at the start of the slideshow.
Compression tests and road test by our workshop confirm a healthy 4-cylinder engine.
Starting is easy with no smoke or unusual noises.
Oil pressure when cold measured in workshop is 5 bars at 900 rpm.
Once up to temperature, the engine revs normally.
Turbo boost is steady.
All five gears engage and disengage without issues, particularly around the synchros.
As is common with older engines, the engine-to-gearbox seal is only average.
