Body / Exterior:
The model presented here is a 1964 Spitfire 4 in its period Jonquil Yellow colour.
The bodyshell of this example was restored a few years ago and the chassis was given a complete new paint in period colour.
We noted a small scratch and a mark under the TRIUMPH motif on the front bonnet as well as a small chip repaired on the door creases.
A small crack remains visible on the paint of the rear left wing as well as a small scratch near the left front light.
The tailgate also shows a few paint defects.
The black PVC hood was replaced recently and its lining is in perfect condition, with no micro-scratches or tears.
The four wheels painted to body colour are in good condition, despite a slight marbling of the paint.
All four original hubcaps are in good condition despite very slight oxidation.
The two chromed bullet mirrors are also in very good condition.
All chrome trim and mouldings are complete, aligned and in excellent condition. Only the original bumpers appear slightly oxidised.
Interior:
The upholstery has been completely redone by our trimmer in 2018 (invoice: €988).
The original black faux leather bucket seats with white piping are like-new and show no signs of wear or damage.
The carpets are also in perfect condition.
All plastics and door panels are near-new.
The dashboard has been restored as well as the dash cap; the whole is in perfect condition.
As original, the dashboard is painted to match the body colour.
The Bakelite steering wheel and the original black Bakelite gear knob show a light patina.
The original JAEGER dashboard instruments are fully functional.
This example is equipped with its original spare wheel and its wheel cover.
Chassis:
The undercarriage inspection confirms a healthy chassis and body, with no visible accident damage or structural corrosion.
Fundamentals: ladder frame chassis, sills, lower wing sections, wheel arches, floors and longitudinals are in good condition.
Usage reserve: in principle we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their good visual and functional condition verified during road test and lifting on the ramp.
During the dynamic test we detected no abnormal droning from the body or running gear (ball joints, bushings, etc.).
Braking is aligned and its efficiency complies with period standards.
Front discs show less than 20% wear and their pads less than 60% wear.
Rear drums are fully functional with no signs of seepage.
A roadworthiness inspection carried out by our workshop prior to delivery will confirm overall operation.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanics operate perfectly.
The road test and compression checks performed by our workshop confirm a healthy 4-cylinder.
Starting is easy and idle is steady.
In motion, the 4-cylinder revs normally without hiccups or overheating.
This example is fitted with 2 chromed sport air filters in new condition.
The gearbox engages all four gears correctly.
As is common on these models, engine/ gearbox/ axle seals can be somewhat less than perfect.
