The fifth generation of the Coronet was introduced in 1965 as a mid sized sedan, coupe and station wagon. By 1968 it was refreshed alongside the Dodge Charger, which shared the same B-body platform recognised from the front wing to the back of the car. The Coronet R/ T (Road & Track) was available as a two-door hardtop or convertible and was fitted as standard with Chrysler's largest engine, the 440 cu. in. (7. 2-litre) V8 producing 375 bhp and dubbed the 'Magnum'. Prospective buyers had the choice of two transmissions, Mopar's heavy-duty three-speed TorqueFlite automatic or a four-speed manual.
This is a matching numbers Coronet R/ T as verified by accompanying paperwork and confirmed by Galen's Registry, a leading authority in vehicle identification specialising in Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler cars manufactured between 1962 and 1974. Presenting in its factory colour scheme of F5 Medium Green Metallic, White vinyl roof, White transverse stripe and green interior with 'bucket' seats, it benefits from air conditioning and power steering (the vendor advising the AC may need a re-gas). Powered by the Magnum 440 engine (with skimmed heads and new valves), column shift 727 torqueflite 3 speed automatic transmission and 8 ¾ Sure grip rear end with 3:23 gears, it boasts a Mopar purple 484 cam, Mopar electronic ignition (orange box and new distributor), new Holley 750 vac sec, new timing chain kit and original HP cast exhaust manifolds with Dynamax stainless system. Recent works include a new alternator and voltage regulator, high torque mini starter, new starter relay and battery, new under dash wiring harness and fuse box, new glove box and lamp, new tyres all round on 15x7 and 15x8 Magnum wheels, all new coolant hoses (including the two inside the a/ c heater box) and a new heater control valve. Said to go well and sound amazing, the car was featured on the front cover of Classic American Magazine in May 2026. Further described as being in exemplary condition and highly original, it comes with factory records from Galen's Registry, history file, and current V5C.
