Description

The 1980s. Europe is recovering from the oil crises of 1973 and 1979. Little by little, confidence in the economy is returning and financial worries are easing. Dynasty first appeared on TV in 1981 and showed what the good life was all about. In true American style and full of intrigue, mind you. But of course, we were mainly intrigued by the beautiful images of the luxurious houses and cars. Meanwhile, the European car industry is also gearing up for a new decade. Stricter regulations are forcing manufacturers to scrutinise safety even more closely, and emissions are a major focus. Engines must become cleaner and more fuel-efficient. These regulations are also filtering down through the ranks at Ferrari, where smaller turbocharged engines are being developed that are not only cleaner but, in some countries, also more tax-efficient.

And it is precisely at this time that the Ferrari 328 is being developed. It is a further development of the 308, which came onto the market in the 1970s and gained fame largely thanks to Tom Selleck. The 308 is classic and sleekly styled, whereas the 328 has softer lines and looks considerably more modern. The colour-matched bumpers, the more modern interior and the larger engine prepared Ferrari for the battle against rivals such as the Porsche 911 and the Lamborghini Jalpa. The 328 was in production between 1985 and 1989 and was available in two versions: the closed GTB and the GTS as a targa.

A true Ferrari, then, one that remains true to the concept of the ‘smaller’ mid-engine models from Maranello. It is the car you’d have parked in your driveway alongside a Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit and, well, why not: a 911 Turbo. The 328 GTS undeniably evokes that touch of ‘Dynasty’. The luxurious life in a seemingly carefree era. Many car enthusiasts had a poster-sized image of a 328 hanging above their bed. And it is precisely for that generation that we have acquired a stunning car. A magnificent GTS, born in 1988. So it is a later 328, but from before ABS became available. Purists appreciate this, as the versions without ABS have more attractive wheels and a driving experience that is purer. The car is painted in the distinctive Rosso Corsa and has a black interior with a period-correct Becker radio.

The 328GTS was originally delivered new in the Netherlands and has had only two owners. The second owner has had the car in his collection for 28 years. Servicing has been carried out exclusively at authorised workshops: in the early years at Kroymans in Hilversum and in recent years at Forza Service in Oss. The last service, including the replacement of the timing belt, was carried out at 76, 910 km; the current mileage is 77, 551. Every attention and care has been given to the car, and this is evident to see and feel. The car drives, brakes and changes gear perfectly. No comments. Both the exterior and interior clearly show that the car has been owned by a true enthusiast who has cherished it as part of his collection. The paintwork is stunning, the wheels are undamaged and the interior is truly impeccable. In fact, we would go so far as to say that this is one of the finest and best 328s on the market. Naturally, all the service booklets are present, neatly stamped at the maintenance intervals.

A Ferrari 328GTS like this deserves a new owner who will embark on wonderful road trips and enjoy its pure character and driving pleasure. Someone who will fall for the typical 1980s design and the air of luxury that surrounds the car. We warmly invite you to come and see it for yourself.
