Introduced in 2002, the Jaguar S-Type R combined retro-futuristic styling reminiscent of the original 1963 S-Type with aggressive, understated performance cues. Developed by Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations team, it combined traditional luxury saloon comfort with genuine high-performance credentials. Power was provided by the renowned 4. 2-litre AJ-V8 fitted with an Eaton M112 supercharger and generating 400bhp and 400lb/ ft, paired with a ZF six-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels with a performance-tuned CATS adaptive suspension system. The numbers were impressive with a BMW M5-rivalling 0-60 in 5. 3 seconds and a (limited) 155mph.
The 'R' variant stood out from standard models through 18-inch alloy wheels, a monochromatic wire-mesh grille, deep front and rear aprons, side skirts, and a subtle lip spoiler on the boot lid. With its refined chassis, understated styling and effortless performance, the S-Type R offered a compelling alternative to its German rivals whilst retaining Jaguar's distinctive character.
The Car:Recently imported from Japan, on offer here is a right-hand drive 2004 Jaguar S-Type R finished in Midnight Pearl Metallic with a contrasting two-tone black and yellow leather interior.
